GARY STENSHOL, CEO and Chairman
Born and raised in Santa Paula, Gary Stenshol has spent his career involved in all aspects of farm land. He began as a consulting entomologist with Agri/Serv, Inc., a full-service pest control, fumigation and fertilization firm serving citrus and avocado growers in Ventura County. He eventually became general manager of Agri/Serv, running that 40-employee business while maintaining his own entomology consulting business. Stenshol joined Ag Land in 1980 to operate its land management division in the Santa Clara Valley, taking responsibility for growing and harvesting some 1,000 acres of citrus and avocados. He became a partner in Realty Services in 1982, locating and buying promising agricultural properties with a group of investors. So far, some 3,000 acres have been purchased, spanning 20 cotenancy properties. In 1996, Realty Services and Ag Land Services merged, and Stenshol added the chairman of the board title and duties. With the merger, he has shifted his emphasis from real estate back to production agriculture. He served on the board of directors of a local bank for eight years, with three of those as chairman of the loan committee. Stenshol earned his B.S. degree in soil science from California State University at San Luis Obispo. He and his wife, Carol, live in Camarillo and have two grown daughters.

FELIX GOMEZ, Vice President, Orchard Operations
Felix Gomez is truly a home-grown businessman a local-boymakes-good story. He was raised on the Teague McKevett Ranch in Santa Paula, attended Santa Paula High School, and as a teenager, moved to the Limoneira Ranch in Santa Paula, where he worked weekends and summers picking lemons and oranges. He worked at the ranch for 20 years, rising through the organization from picker to the packing house, then on to manager of the company store and warehouse, and finally to supervisor in charge of all orchard operations (450 acres of lemons, avocados and oranges). He joined Ag Land in 1990 as foreman, overseeing the picking of lemons and avocados, was promoted to orchard manager in charge of all orchard operations, and to vice president in charge of orchard operations. Gomez graduated from the prestigious California Agricultural Leadership Program, Class XXXIII, in 2004. The two-year program, which accepts only 27 students a year, is affiliated with the California State University system, and through a rigorous schedule of seminars and classes which include national and international travel, trains leaders in the agricultural industry. This is an honor and accomplishment for Gomez, whose formal education only took him through 10th grade, and whose upbringing in a family of migrant farm workers challenged his attempts at schooling. Gomez also volunteers as a mentor, providing a second chance for at-risk youth through the Grizzly Youth Academy at the National Guard in San Luis Obispo. He and his wife, Mercy, live in Moorpark and have three grown daughters. |
